Vegvisir

OK, one more thing from Iceland (maybe). In case you can’t tell, the trip was incredible and was something that has affected me in very positive ways! Above is the Vegvisir. It is a runic symbol that is sometimes called a Viking compass. It was really first discussed in modern times in the 1860s but is said to be in two ancient grimoires as well. There are some that attest some Christian roots to it as well. The literal meaning or description of this is

“if this sign is carried, one will never lose one’s way in storms or bad weather, even when the way is not known”

I don’t really wear jewelry. I have an old, functional, Apple watch and my silicone wedding band. That’s pretty much it. But on the trip, I read about the vegvisir and found a bracelet that is made of lava stones and has a single bead with the vegvisir on it. I have worn it pretty much every day since. I love this. I also got one for all my sons and discussed the importance of staying the course and finding their way. And knowing that I am here to help guide through life’s storms.

No one ever promised you calm seas. No one ever said you won’t get lost on the way. But I promised them I would sail out to get them and give them direction and guidance. And with the right support, and the right mindset and hard work and ingenuity and a little divine intervention, they will not lose their way, no matter the weather or seas or clarity of the path.

This concludes Iceland for my weekly email series. If you don’t have it on your list, put it there. You must go visit. Love yall. Take care of each other.
