J. Harmon Home Team would like to congratulate Michael Alfred on being awarded our August 2024 Teacher of the Month award. Mr. Alfred teaches at Providence Christian Academy.
He was nominated TWICE and his nominations read: “Beside being a great man and example for his students he gives 110% in all he does. All teachers want their students to be intelligent and past tests but he wants them to be outstanding people for the community. Before being a teacher he was a youth minister. He has a heart for helping the students in EVERY aspect of life. He overly spins time with each student, deserving or not, to show them what a good person they are and what they could be. You can’t duplicate the heart of a teacher. He is also a coach of the tennis team. After his player was defeated, I saw him discuss with the opponent how he played so strong, two solid attributes of his game and how he would go somewhere. He then turned to his player and said if we win or we lose we always lift the other person up. You never know where they are and what they need in their life. He then praise his own player for who he was and the game he played. Coach Alfred exemplifies that attitude in every aspect of his life. This is why he is your Outstanding Teacher.”
and “As a teacher (and tennis coach)he knows how to connect with the kids on multiple levels (educational and personal). Mr. Alfred cares about ever child in his class and on the court. He kindness to Blake is one of the main reasons we choose PCA. The first time we meet Coach Alfred he was on the opposing team but made sure he compliment each member of our team. Not something you see much anymore, especially in sports. He is an all around good man and solid, challenging educator. You would be proud if your son turned out to be like Coach.”
