Renovation Update

No real life lesson in this one. Just an update. We are finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel on our Main Street house renovation. It has been a long, long, disappointing, stressful season for us. It is not over and we still have a major lawsuit against the former contractor but at least we see ourselves living in our house again finally.

Our current contractor, The Chavis Construct, has been an absolute God send. They are knowledgeable, efficient, careful and respectful. My biggest regret over the last 2-3 years is that we didn’t know them first. Our lives would be much much different if they had the job from the beginning. That said, the house is incredible now and we are so excited.

Other updates–real estate is interesting right now. Apathy seems to be the name of the game overall. We do see more houses coming on the market and some of those are getting snapped up. Meanwhile, I am seeing more and more houses with 100+ days on the market. Some of it is apathy, some is fatigue and some is just plain non affordability. I think there is a healthy dose of fear mixed in too.

If you are thinking about your real estate situation and want a truly unbiased, honest read on it. One that is not motivated by getting a sale (I’ve told 4 people in the last 2 weeks to NOT do anything now), lets grab a coffee. Or a beer. Or lunch. Or just a phone call. Whatever, don’t wonder. Ask.
