Fires

Standing here cooking breakfast and thinking about all the things I need to do today. It’s gonna be a busy day! Walkthrough on a new construction home, listing appointment, meeting with a different seller about pricing, social media for the brewery, several other things. I also have this one task I’ve been putting off for a WHILE. I tend to take care of other people’s fires before my own. And, often, my fires get left completely unattended until they either go out completely or turn into a blazing inferno (you like all the metaphor). So, for me, if I put the item out there. If I speak it into existence and share it with the world, I know I am going to finish it. I know because if others know about it, I am embarrassed if I don’t finish it. So, here goes. Lici and I are writing a book. We have been meeting with our friend Lee Rennick and the three of us are working on this little project. Lee is a great writer, she just picks lousy co-authors (me and Lici). So anyway, Lee gave us the first 5 chapters like forever ago and I have not gone through and edited them. I have a meeting with Lee tomorrow morning and have to get it done. Otherwise, I have not fulfilled my obligation. And I don’t do that. So, while I am stewing down the chilaquiles, I am thinking about the book and making myself sit down and edit. It’s funny, I am great at dealing with others’ fires. I suck at taking care of my own.

Update–before I finished this email, I finished the edits! Lee and I will have a successful meeting tomorrow!
