I have been thinking all day about what to write. I have gone down several mental rabbit holes and come up with nothing. But at the same time, come up with several somethings. Ya dig? So, instead of one topic, here is a smattering of several small ones. 1) Congrats to my friends Shawn and Christy Hackinson. They won Business Persons of the Year from the Chamber today at the annual Business at Its Best luncheon. Well deserved. You two have built an amazing community and continue to build it. Not only are your restaurants top notch, but your support of the community is far reaching. Honored to know yall. 2) Had a deal fall through. It sucked. It all stems from unrealistic expectations and poor communication. Sometimes professionals in this industry don’t give context and seemingly enjoy scaring people. It is very difficult to balance the line between facts and opinions. I get it. I also know that it is extremely important as people hinge major life decisions on your opinion. 3) Had a great time at the luncheon and got to sit with people I didn’t know. Heather, Lisa, Alice, you all were awesome. I love expanding my circle. 4) My wife is awesome. She rode around with me today and I got to listen to her on some business calls. She is smart. She is sharp and she is wise. I know I already said smart. But wise is different. Wise is smart with experience and discernment. That’s her. She is also pretty dang clever and funny sometimes. Of course, not as funny as me, but, who is? 5) My daughter has been sick. She’s ok now. But I suck at being a nurturing caregiver. It is NOT one of my strengths. 6) We live in a great place. Dynamic, diverse, fun, growing, still small town, plus so much more. I love it here. 7) Real estate is still in a change. I read the other day that we are approaching a 5 month supply window. This is the most we’ve had in a long time. 7 months supply is “historically” considered a balanced market between buyers and sellers. I would say at this supply window, we already in a market that favors buyers. If houses are on the market it is because they need to sell for one reason or another. Very few people are moving because they are just bored. Inventory is short but buyer count is even shorter. So the whole “months supply” model is a little on its traditional ear right now. 8) We have some really cool things coming at Cedar Glade. I will list them.
