Good Morning,
I am sitting at my desk right now a little grumpy because I have to go to a 6 hour class today. The class is called TREC Core class. It is required every two years in order to keep your Real Estate License in the state of TN. I’m grumpy because I have been an agent for over 15 years and have done hundreds and hundreds of transactions. I have been a managing broker and supervised even more transactions. I have had a team and supervised even more transactions. I have taught classes, including ethics and contracts. I feel like I know the Core of our business pretty well. Frankly, I am feeling a little entitled. Entitled to NOT have to take this class and that it is a colossal waste of my day.
Well, boo freaking hoo. I KNOW that my attitude is not right. I am not looking at this correctly. The reality is, I GET to take this class. I have the opportunity to spend 6 focused hours listening to an expert in my industry share stuff. Share stories, share insights and their interpretation, application of the same stuff I “KNOW”. I imagine they may have a different take on things I “KNOW”. I also get to spend time around other professionals that I can network with and make even small connections that could benefit my clients.
I owe it to my clients and my family to make the most of this day. It is only wasted if I waste it.
What do you HAVE to do today that you should change your perspective on? Instead, I should ask, what do you GET to do today?
