Please join J. Harmon Home Team is congratulating Norman Hanks on winning our November Hero of the Month award.

Norman’s nominations read: (1st nomination) Obviously, Norman does outstanding work for the community through Nourish Food Bank in his role as COO. He doesn’t stop there though. His passion for inclusivity in Rutherford County drives him to raise money for causes like Boro Pride and operations that feed hungry kids. Norman even started a theater group for children who have survived trauma, with the theory that often one can express feelings when acting as if they are someone else. He is a truly inspiring individual and I am so glad he is in our community.

(2nd nomination) Norman is a guy who has faced a LOT of adversity throughout his life. He never gave up. Never gave in. He is a guy that is unashamedly himself–finally. He works to feed the hungry at Nourish Food Bank and gives to the community in lots of other ways. His series “Cooking with a Queen” is a bit edgy but is so important as it gets regular people face to face with a member of the LGBTQ+ community. It opens up conversations that need to be had in order to move us forward.
